Vitamin B12 Treatment
Vitamin B12 is a component of healthy nerve cells. It is necessary in production of
DNA and RNA,red blood cell production, and iron function. Deficiency can result in
anemia, fatigue, weakness, constipation, numbness and tingling in the hands and feet,
depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and mouth or tongue soreness.
It is administered as a weekly intramuscular injection because Vitamin B12
is often poorly absorbed orally especially in older patients.
There have never been any side effects reported except for discomfort at the point of injection.
